It was such a lovely day in Viridian City, the Pidgey could be heard chirping in the background and the wind was blowing at a calming pace. Everything looked set for a day of relaxation for the young researcher named Zackary. He had to admit that he wanted to press on with his journey, but he after his run in with a few Spearows, all he wanted to do was rest. One thing will always haunt him from those birds, their glare.
“Wait why am I the only one enjoying this,” he said, reaching for his Pokéballs, “Come out and enjoy it as well!” With a flick of his wrist, he released Hermin, his Spearow, and his newly acquired Pidgey. He then watched to see what they would do, studying what a day of resting means to them. His bird Pokémon fluttered onto a tree branch while his Squirtle headed for a pond.
Zackary had a feeling that they would stick to their natural habitats and took out his notebook to confirm his theory. As he scribbled down, he realized something. All Poke Researchers were known for something that they studied. Hardly any of them just stuck with a vast knowledge about everything Poke related when they started out. That was when he decided on what his would be.
It was probably a hard nut for anyone to crack, but he found that watching how Pokémon acted is what he enjoyed the most. Are Pokémon like Humans and have their own personality? Or is it based off of their Trainer? Hopefully those were questions that the young researcher would solve. So far, he was leaning towards the theory that Pokémon were like ordinary people, having their own personality.
Hermin was the reason for him believing in that because of the way his Squirtle acted. Zackary was a person who liked everything neat and organized, his Squirtle was not like that at all. In a way actually, Hermin was a messy comedian. Normally he would hate someone like that, but Zackary learned to love his Squirtle. If it wasn’t for Hermin, things would be boring.
“Quick, everyone run!” someone suddenly yelled, causing the young researcher to break his pencil, “I don’t know what that thing is, but I don’t want to find out!” When he heard the word “thing”, Zackary jumped up to his feet with a smile. He had a feeling that it was a Pokémon, and he wanted to see what kind.
“You guys can stay here if you want,” he said to his Pokémon, “I’m going to go see what the commotion is about.” Just like he figured, his birds stayed in the tree that it was in, but Hermin wanted to follow his trainer. It quickly jumped out of the water and ran alongside Zackary to see what everyone was talking about.
