I'm struggling just to breathe again
could this be my one last? unravel me
please unravel my soul make reality freeze
A few months ago, he had received a letter from some man claiming to be a friend of his father's. This came off as rather strange to him as he had never heard his father talk about anyone he knew in the past, other than anyone who was already dead and written into the history books. What confused him the most about the letter was that it claimed to have a 'rare Pokemon' for him along with something about a Pokedex. He had read up on whatever material could get his hands on for the device mentioned in the letter, even going to online resources. Fact or rumor, he read it all. He had not been one to concern himself with what went on in the region unless his parents had brought it up, and his mother had banned him from watching any sort of news channel. It was while he was researching to whatever extent he could about the Pokedex that he started understanding more about what had been going on in the past few years while he was in his own little world. It would have been expected for him to have heard something about it while he was spending hours online, but he had somehow managed to remain blind to it until these past few months.
It had come to this. Just last week, he had told his mother that he was leaving and that she was not to expect him back for a long time. She had been furious, but she managed to control her anger while in the presence of him, the butler, and her own parents who had come over to visit for the weekend. She had even helped him pack (much to his displeasure), though she refused to let him bring the butler with him (much to his even greater displeasure). Leaving with a heavy suitcase toting behind him, he had taken the next flight out to Pallet Town.
So, here he was, standing before a large building that he had been directed to by one of the locals. Professor Oak's Pokemon Laboratory, a facility he had made sure to research into as well. It... Really did not seem like much, but outer appearances were never something to expect much on. After all, everything he should expect will be inside, right? He hoped. Thin fingers clutched at the handle of his suitcase, and he chewed on the inside of his lower lip. He had been standing there for a good ten minutes, and he was quite certain a few passing locals hand stopped to give him questioning stares. He reached out with his free hand, grasping the doorknob and turning it, slowly opening the laboratory door. He quietly slipped inside, struggling slightly to pull his suitcase over the step. Once he was able to, he rolled the suitcase to the side and propped it up against the wall, shutting the door behind him.
Blue and purple eyes glanced around the main entrance, sweeping over the walls and anything that decorated it. "Hello?" He called out in a voice much quieter than he had intended. He did not bother to correct himself, instead awkwardly standing in front of the door, beside his suitcase, fiddling with the hem of his sweater. His mother would have been appalled by what he was wearing, but he had wanted to travel in comfort, not style.
