A lonely ray of light from the sun suddenly beamed through the window of a house in Pallet Town and revealed a man who would about to begin his adventure with his Pokemon companion. He spent the whole night dreaming about what his Squirtle would be like and almost never woke up because of that. Thankfully the ray of sunlight went straight for his eyes and woke the sleeping man up. He yawned once, and then looked at his clock.
“Oh man I need to check the mail!” he said, jumping out of bed. To his knowledge, he figured that the great Professor Oak would have sent him a letter. He waited day after day, but never once got a notification from the Poke Professor. Even though it looked bad for him, Zackary still thought that when he checked their mailbox, he would find a note from his idol.
Quickly rushing down the stairs, he began to race from his room and towards the front door. On his way towards the door he noticed something lying on the dining table. At first his face was filled with excitement, but it soon ended once he realized his father was the one who sent him the letter. Even though it wasn’t exactly how he wanted things to go, he figured he might as well be happy. He was going to get a Pokemon after all!
Before Zackary went off to Oak’s laboratory, he made sure to pour himself a bowl of cereal. He kind of felt silly doing exactly what his father instructed of him, but he was hungry and didn’t know when his next meal would be. After he finished, he placed the bowl into the sink and then headed outside to receive his Pokemon. While he did so, a smile never left his face.
After a couple of minutes of walking, he reached the entrance to Professor Oak’s laboratory. From the flocks of Pidgeot flying off into the air, he could already tell that the Professor’s assistants were hard at work. He also knew that it wouldn’t be the same with Oak off to see his grandson, but he felt like he would some day get his chance to meet the man he looked up to.
As soon as the young man walked inside, he watched as people ran around in lab coats. Apparently things were busier than he first thought it would be. Before he could head off to find his father and his Pokemon, he was first greeted by a Slowbro. Zackary didn’t understand what the Pokemon was saying, but he felt welcomed nonetheless.
“Hey there Rusty,” Zackary said as a response to what the Slowbro was saying, “Is Dad around?” He then watched as the Pokemon took long time to point off to where he assumed his father to be. The young man waved his father’s Pokemon goodbye and then went to meet up with his father. He finally reached him and when he did; his eyes were instantly glued to the Pokéball sitting on a desk.
He was never the patient type so instead of waiting for his dad to give it to him, he decided to hold the ball in his hands. It felt kind of empty to him, but it was as if he knew something was lying within, waiting for him to release it. Zackary accidently placed his thumb on a button that caused both the ball to open and produce a blinding light. The young man’s father saw this and simply stood still to see his son’s reaction.
“Time to see your very own Pokemon,” he managed to hear his father say before the light had vanished, “I hope you like him.”
