Welcome, one and all, to the plot page of the thieving, psychic maybe-murderer that is Emelius Cathran! Enjoy your stay, now.
One: As a general rule, assume anything I post is open and welcome to anyone who wants to bug plant man here, unless specifically marked otherwise. It's the general formula I've come to run by lately, and makes things easier for my poor mind.
Two: The rate at which I post is subject to be intermittent at best. Maybe multiple times a day (if anyone else could match that pace) one day, then days without a peep. There are factors mostly beyond my control that cause that. So don't expect a "regular" schedule, is all I mean. I will make an effort to post at least once a week, rest assured, and I tend to at least show up and check in quite frequently.
Three: If for whatever reason you wish to get in touch with me beyond the confines of the forum, I have Skype, which I'm signed into pretty much whenever I'm conscious and at home. You can find my Skype name on my profile, if you are so inclined.
One: Emelius is often plagued by nightmares that later turn out to be prophetic, if exceptionally confusing and difficult to figure out at the best of times. Most times they tell him little to nothing, maybe the weather on any given day, but on occasion they reveal interesting things...like the time he was nearly arrested by someone he considered a friend.
Two: Emelius is often laid-back and rather jovial, and tends to refer to most people as simply "friend" or "pal" rather than their name. When he begins to get uptight or nervous, however, he will often subconsciously change to "sir" or "ma'am", and on occasion even people's name. It's an easy indicator of how he's feeling once you spot it.
Three: Emelius's eyes are always on the move, looking for anything shiny and valuable that he might acquire for himself. He doesn't go around constantly stealing, of course, that would just get boring. But he does like to keep his eyes sharp to catch things. Like people coming to do him harm or otherwise catch him. He's slightly paranoid.
Four: Emelius is good at simple tricks and even more elaborate stage magic. He always has a few props on his person for impromptu tricks, and often uses them to gauge the measure of a person upon meeting. His specialty is guessing games, which he professes himself he simply can't lose.
Five: As mentioned before, Emelius is ever so slightly paranoid due to events which have rather firmly settled into his mind. Being psychic isn't all it's cracked up to be. He's always keeping an eye on possible escapes and ways out of just about any building he goes into, and prefers to avoid being surrounded on all sides if at all possible.
Six: Emelius is not terribly fond of birds. He's got his reasons.
Seven: Emelius is quick on his feet. Very, very quick. You'd be surprised what a few years of panicked running and paranoid sprinting will earn you.
Eight: Emelius has an exceptionally good memory, especially for people. It's helped him avoid picking the same person as a target more than would be easy.
Nine: While it may not be immediately obvious, Emelius has the mentality that Pokemon should be used more as tools and resources to make one's life easier. Obviously well-cared for and kept tools, but far from the idealistic "family pet" or "beloved partner" mentality most people seem to have.
Friends
Emelius prefers to remain professionally distant, and keep acquaintances more than true friends. He does make a habit of remembering people by both name and face, and is polite and friendly enough most of the time. But he has something of an issue with forming a bond of friendship with people. It's an unhealthy, if mild, paranoia-trust issue of his.
Enemies
All the same, Emelius doesn't make enemies too easily either. Even people who have cursed his name and other unpleasant things he doesn't consider true enemies. That isn't to say they aren't enemies, he just doesn't consider them as such. He prefers not to put labels on people, though he does have enough sense in his head to know he should watch out for certain folk, especially if he's given them reason to dislike him enough.
Romance?
Emelius has strange and ever so slightly depressing ideas about romance and love in general. He's got twisted views on it -- not demented or strange, merely...different. It doesn't help that in his twisted view he seems to have gotten the idea that it's something that...isn't for him. He's gotten the idea somewhere that it's more of a long-term partnership than any sort of emotional connection, and is rather stuck on the idea of travelling alone.
Watch, and be amazed!
None now.
Wonderful display, wasn't it?
1) Snatch and Grab
Set-up: Receiving a mysterious and slightly unnerving letter, Emelius makes his way to Pallet Town to procure a Pokedex as requested of him.
Results: Soon to come.
Those Involved: Emelius Cathran
And for my next trick...
None yet.
Things to note about me.
